MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State Sports Link has announced its inaugural SL Bowling Tournament for members of the immersive learning experience, as well as members of Digital Sports Production.
The two-day event begins with a live stream of the tournament’s Jan. 12 draft at 3 p.m. (EST), followed by the tournament’s first ball rolled Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. Cardinal Lanes in the Ball State student center will host the bowling tournament.
Large crowds are expected so plan to arrive early. Admission is free to the public.
“We are excited to continue our team-building process with the first-ever Sports Link Bowl,” says Chris Taylor, Ball State’s Director of Digital Sports Production and the owner of the tournament’s top draft pick. “We expect a highly competitive, or at least a highly entertaining, inaugural event at Cardinal Lanes this week.”
Members of Ball State Sports Link and Digital Sports Production must declare themselves eligible for the random draft Monday by 2:45 p.m. (EST).
To be eligible for the draft, members must complete the sign-up process of adding their initials to the official SL whiteboard outside the office of Alex Kartman.
Monday’s draft show, will be hosted by the award-winning duo of Taylor and Kartman, while the draft selection will be monitored by the firm of Bradley, Alan & Dailey.
The draft show will be streamed live online from Ball State’s Digital Sports Production Center. A link will be provided through Sports Link’s social media platforms on Monday to watch the event.
Team Taylor will have the first pick in the random draft, followed by Team Kartman and Team Dailey. Once members declare themselves for the draft, additional teams are expected to be announced Monday. Teams will include five members.
The tournament begins at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cardinal Lanes on the BSU campus. Tournament format includes a minimum of two complete games bowled by each team, and if time permits, a third game.
The winning team will be determined by cumulative team score. In the event of a tie, the team captains will select one member of their team for a three-frame bowl-off.
The winning team gets dinner provided by Taylor, a free Papa John’s Pizza and a bottle of antifreeze courtesy of Grandpa Taylor.
