Muncie YMCA “On Point” Program Includes Sports Link Mentors

onpointBall State Sports Link has partnered with the Muncie YMCA on a new initiative for 7th and 8th grade students at Northside and Southside Middle Schools in 2015-16.

The YMCA’s “On Point” youth program emphasizes the importance of education, wellness and leadership, all while guiding the student’s future academic and career goals.

The initiative focuses on constructive use of out of school time, healthy living, academic success, social responsibility and access to positive adult role models. Ball State Sports Link staff and students will visit students in the “On Point” program — including mentoring and tutoring — at Muncie YMCA locations.

In addition, students will tour Ball State Sports link and the Department of Telecommunications for an introduction to digital sports media production Nov. 4.  Sports Link’s “On The Clock” radio show, hosted by Connor Onion and Noah Reed, will include the students as part of a live studio audience in the WCRD 91.3 FM studios after the tour.
