Ball State gymnastics finished second in Sunday’s tri-meet with Eastern Michigan (195.050) and Illinois State (191.900) with a team score of 192.700.
The meet was the first of up to 18 Ball State Sports Link productions on ESPN 3 this semester.
Tyler Bradfield, Morgan Landes and Brooklyn Schumacher had the call.
“It’s always hard to go two meets back-to-back in one weekend,” head coach Joanna Saleem said. “I think we saw a little bit of that strain today. The team wasn’t quite as sharp as we looked last weekend at home.”
On vault Denasiha Christian scored a 9.800 earning her second place. Shelby Arms followed in fourth with a score of 9.750.
The Cardinals moved onto the bars where Angela Durkac and Kayla Beckler both scored a 9.725, tying for sixth place.
Sydney Finke took seventh on beam with a score of 9.750, and Beckler followed with a 9.725, placing eighth.
The team concluded the meet on floor where Christian won the floor title with a 9.850, matching her score from the previous meet against Illinois State and Lindenwood. Sarah Ebeyer stood in third with a 9.800.
“I was a little disappointed, because I think we were prepared to come out and compete a Friday-Sunday meet,” Saleem stated. “We want to get to that point where we go out there and hit our routines and it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are. Now, we can learn from today and get back into the gym and really strive for that consistency.”
