Triumph: The Denasiha Christian Story

Ball State’s Denasiha Christian was honored as the 2016 Mid-American Conference vault and floor champion.

Christian’s performance on floor captured the title for the third consecutive year scoring a 9.950, matching her career high.

Ball State Sports Link’s Jake Bartelson and Jason Porter have the story of a champion as she prepares for the NCAA Regionals.

For the first time since 2013 the Ball State gymnastics team is sending five Cardinals to Regionals in Iowa City, Iowa, Saturday, Apr. 2 at 4 p.m. local time.

“It’s a pretty big deal for Ball State gymnastics to be able to have more than one individual going to Regionals,” head coach Joanna Saleem said. “We haven’t had anybody go in the past couple of years that I’ve been head coach of the program. To have four gymnasts competing and a fifth as the alternate is pretty exciting. It just shows the depth of this team and opens the door to what they are capable of in future seasons.”
