Ball State Sports Link and Digital Sports Production students will originate a total of 81 LIVE productions through December for Ball State Athletics on a variety of digital platforms.
The 81-event live schedule — in the Fall 2016 semester — is highlighted by 12 completely student-produced events on ESPN3, while the program will produce another 28 live original shows to Facebook Live. Sports Link Radio on WCRD 91.3 FM and SL Digital on ballstatesports.com will equal over 40 live Ball State contests.
Sports Link LIVE, powered by Stoops Automotive, includes a weekly show with Ball State football coach Mike Neu and student-athletes live from the Venderly Football Team Complex. A weekly Wednesday Sports Link LIVE from the Unified Media Lab digital news studio with coaches and student-athletes begins in October.
In addition, Sports Link GameDay, powered by Stoops, live from Scheumann Stadium will air 90 minutes before kickoff on home football Saturdays. The show will stream exclusively to social media platforms, including Facebook Live and will be available on a jumbotron in the tailgate lot for viewing.
Now in year two, Sports Link Gameday, is hosted by senior Noah Reed, with senior Connor Onion and junior Cory Stace as analysts. Junior Mick Tidrow is the executive producer, while sophomore Adrian Jarding will be in studio.
Sports Link will also originate two live sporting events — field Hockey vs. Miami Oct. 23 and both men’s and women’s swimming and diving Nov. 4 vs. Tiffin — to Facebook Live.
Sports Link’s ESPN3 productions include four women’s volleyball matches, two soccer matches, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. The program will also debut “Sports Link at the Half”, a studio show from Ball State’s virtual Studio B for select men’s and women’s basketball games on ESPN3.
ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices through WatchESPN.
The network is currently available to more than 99 million homes at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed Internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider.
Over 30 Ball State games including football, women’s volleyball, soccer, field hockey, men’s and women’s basketball will air as part of SL Radio on WCRD 91.3 FM. Additional live events will be available through SL Digital on ballstatesports.com.
