Tahjai Teague: Still Smiling

One thing fans may have noticed in 2016-17 for Ball State Basketball, Tahjai Teague was always smiling.

Teague, a redshirt freshman, played in 33 games with one start for Ball State.  He averaged 19.0 minutes per game, while adding 7.3 points and nearly six rebounds an outing for the 21-13 Cardinals.  Teague end the season shooting 41 percent from three-point range.

“It still feels weird every time I go out there,” Teague said. “I just try and take it day by day and game by game and play the best I can.”

In Ball State’s loss to No. 1 seed Akron at the MAC Tournament, Teague posted a career-high 19 points to go along with four assists, six rebounds and two steals.

“He is certainly going to keep getting better,” Ball State head coach James Whitford said. “He is shooting the ball well, but he is going to keep getting better as a shooter, and you look back a year from now and he’s added 15-20 pounds of muscle to his frame.  When that happens you have a chance to see a significantly improved step.”

The Indiana All Star’s journey to Ball State is featured in this segment from “Out of the Shadows”.
