Letter From CT: Creating A Legacy

I’m writing you today to let you know about a new initiative I am passionate about — creating the first endowed Sports Link Legacy Scholarship.

No one understand the importance of this more than you.

Whether you have participated in the program as one of the 100+ Sports Link alumni,  been touched by an inspiring story or live event produced by our talented students, or you are a valued industry professional who has mentored our students and supported our program both on and off campus. ALL of you make what we do possible.

As the program commemorates its 10th anniversary and Ball State celebrates its Centennial year, now is our chance to make yet another statement.  I ask you to help us achieve this goal together.

Our $25,000 target will endow the first Sports Link Legacy Scholarship.  Endowed funds are permanent funds, creating a true legacy that will impact our students for generations to come.

To initiate the campaign, my family and I have contributed the first $5,000 to the scholarship fund. It’s an honor for us to do so.

I ask you to join us, along with our initial partners Sports Video Group, the NCAA and NASCAR Digital Media, in creating this lasting symbol of dedication to our students.

In a recent Monday class session, I was asked by one of our current students why a scholarship now?

The answer was simple: I believe our program is to the point where it’s the next step in our growth. To help another student like you have the same experience with a little less college debt.

If we were to achieve 100 percent of our Sports Link alumni giving a one-time gift to this scholarship, we would be over 90 percent to our goal.

While any gift amount is greatly appreciated, we have identified the following gift levels to encourage in this fundraising process:

$200 – Proud Past, Bright Future
A gift at this level will be commemorated with a permanent display of all donor names to the scholarship in the Digital Sports Production center.

$1,000 and above – Leaders & Loyals
A gift at this level will be commemorated with permanent display of all donor names to the scholarship in the Digital Sports Production center, plus be welcomed into Leaders & Loyals, a program that acknowledges Ball State’s most steadfast supporters.

How To Give
Gifts can be made online or via check. To give online please click HERE and choose Other from the list of funds provided, then type in the #7457 Sports Link Legacy Scholarship to designate your funds.

If you would like to send in a check please make them payable to the Ball State University Foundation and send them to: 2800 W. Bethel Ave. Muncie 47304.  Please make sure to write #7457 Sports Link Legacy Scholarship in the memo area.

Thank you for your support, your spirit, your enthusiasm, and for sharing your Sports Link and Ball State experience with people in your circle and beyond.

When you direct your gift for scholarships, student activities and hands-on learning experiences, you can make a huge difference in a student’s future, and that is a legacy I hope you’ll share with me.

Thanks,
