Ball State women’s basketball is back and better than ever. The Cardinals exhibition game takes place today at 4 p.m inside Worthen Arena where they will host Oakland City University.

After a shortened season due to COVID-19 last year, Ball State returns to the traditional 30 game season where 16 of those games will be played at home for the 2021-22 season.

With a few fresh faces from other schools and freshman joining the Cardinals roster, Ball State returns Sydney Freeman along with Anna Clehphane, Thelma Dis Agustsdottir, Annie Rauch, Blake Smith, Ivet Subirats, Estel Puiggros, and Cameron Grant

The newest freshman additions include Indiana All-Stars Ally Becki (Brownsburg) and Madelyn Bischoff (Roncalli) as well as second-team all region selection Marie Kiefer (Bishop Brossart).

New faces in the form of transfers also includes Makenna Burch (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College), Skyla Knight (Butlet Community College), Chyna Latimer (University of Delaware), and Jazmyn Turner (Wabash College).

The Cardinals welcome back the winningest coach in program history, Brady Sallee for his 10th season leading the Cardinals. Sallee holds a 163-119 in his past nine seasons with Cardinals guiding them to six straight Women’s National Invitation Tournament along with a WNIT Final 16 appearance, and eight Mid-American Conference Tournament appearances with four 20-plus win season– something no other head coach at Ball State had done before his tenure with the WBB program.

The last time the Cardinals faced Oakland City in an exhibition game was on the very date eight years ago ending with a 109-58 blowout victory for Ball State.

The Cardinals will officially open their 2021-22 season for its annual Field Trip Day next Tuesday Nov. 9 against Milwaukee.
