With Ball State’s 3-1 win over the Toledo Rockets on Tuesday, the Cardinals now stand alone at the top of the MAC West division.

Coming into the match Ball State had a one-game lead on the Rockets with the Western Michigan Broncos (7-2) sitting right behind them in the West . The Cardinals win improved their conference record to an impressive 8-1, giving them control of their respective division.

The primetime battle in Worthen Arena featured many hot streaks and highlight plays. Many of those pinnacles came from Ball State’s outside hitter Natalie Mitchem, who posted a career day.

Her 21 kills tied a career-high for the junior, matching her performance in her second ever game with the Cardinals. Additionally, Mitchem recorded a praiseworthy four blocks, falling just short of her season high of five in that department.

In the heart of conference play, the Ball State Cardinals are looking the best that they have looked all season. The Cardinals hope to continue their lasting success against a formidable Western Michigan squad over the weekend in Kalamazoo.
